This muzzle brake is designed to fit 5/8-24 threaded barrels and can also be modified by a qualified gunsmith to fit larger thread diameters (up to 3/4″ or 18mm). Offered in either an ultra wear resistant DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) matte black finish, or stainless steel in-the-white, matte finish. Precision CNC machined from high strength HTSR 400-series stainless steel bar for superior heat and corrosion resistance. Computer FEA optimized for maximum strength to weight ratio and impact survivability. High tolerance class-3 threads machined in same operation as bore aperture ensures perfect concentricity this combined with a progressively decreasing baffle thickness and maximized venting area significantly reduce bullet flight disturbance resulting in less yaw, higher BC, and improved accuracy. This not only provides maximum recoil reduction but also reduces the torsional recoil force associated with heavy bullets and fast twist rates. Three large axisymmetric baffles, each featuring five helical ports, redirect a massive volume of gas away from the bore axis in a counter-clockwise radial direction. Precision Armament M41 Severe Duty AR 308 Muzzle Brake There’s also some discussion on the forum We will be using the Precision Armament M41 sibling the M11 308 Muzzle Brake on the 6.5 Creedmoor Long Range Sniper Rifle at our Modular Rifle Site. (see below) To avoid damaging the muzzle brake finish Precision Armament suggests using a spanner wrench which they offer. This is the same method used with muzzle brakes and flash hiders with silencers and sound suppressors. This design can be found on American Precision Arms Fat Bastard, Little Bastard, Micro Bastard, CHODE, The Answer, XX Bastard, and XXX Bastard as well as a wide variety of copycats. The crush washer is the easiest method but least attractive. Due to the design, the harder the muzzle brake is pushed, the more effective it becomes. The use of a crush washer or Rocksett thread locker are the best methods to achieve proper orientation. Simply tightening the muzzle brake to the barrel will result in a random orientation. This is so the blast goes away from the shooter and not towards the ground. That simply means the muzzle brake has a very specific horizontal orientation. This muzzle brake like many others needs to be timed to the barrel. Additional features include: zero flash increase, compact lightweight design, a rugged skeletonized crown, cleaning friendly design, heat-treated stainless steel construction, a tough Ionbond® CrCN finish for superior durability and, as always, 100% Made in the USA.A few items of interest to note. An integral universal timing nut eliminates the need for shims and allows quick field installation & removal using an adjustable wrench or the lightweight spanner tools (included). Fully tunable gas biasing allows the shooter to further reduce, or even eliminate, sight picture movement while firing. This results in exceptional safety, less gas blowback, better accuracy, and higher overall shooter comfort than any other device in its class. Their proprietary Hybrid Baffle Design combined with advanced Convergent-Divergent port geometry yields an unprecedented recoil reduction of over 70% on 308 Winchester and over 78% on 6.5 Creedmoor, while also maintaining modest 35-degree baffle angles and generous bore clearance. Developed from the ground up and backed by knowledge gained from years of pushing the edge of muzzle device performance, the Hypertap muzzle brake delivers more than Precision Armament have ever offered before.
